About the Course

Morning lessons (09:30-12:45, Mon-Fri) focus on developing core language skills with particular emphasis on speaking and listening. Vocabulary and pronunciation work are integrated into each session, with role-plays, AV technology, project work and task-based activities. An entry level test is held on the first school day and an end-of-course certificate and student report are provided. 15 hours of tuition per week in classes of 12 on average (max 18), for levels Elementary (A1) to Advanced (C1).

What’s Included

The price includes tuition, full board accommodation (homestay or residence), afternoon activity programme, weekly excursions programme and 24/7 pastoral care. Course dates run from June to August with programmes of 2, 3 or 4 weeks; extra weeks are available (see official CES price list).

Accommodation

Students choose between full board homestay accommodation with carefully selected and regularly inspected host families, or full board residential accommodation very near the Junior Summer Centre, with evening social activities and 24/7 pastoral care.

Meal Plan

Full board is included in both options: breakfast and dinner with the host family or residence, plus packed lunch on school days and excursions.

Activities & Excursions

Every afternoon students enjoy a supervised programme of sports, activities and cultural visits. A typical week includes an orientation tour of Leeds, a half-day tour to a place of cultural significance, on-site activities after class (sports, arts and crafts), one international disco, evening activities and one full-day excursion at the weekend to places such as York, Scarborough or Whitby.

Facilities

CES Leeds is in the very centre of Leeds in its own Georgian building at Park Place. For the Junior Summer School, CES uses classrooms at the University Centre at Leeds City College and the Swarthmore Education Centre, with free Wi-Fi and a 24-hour emergency phone line.
