Cricket with The R66T Academy, Royal Holloway

The programme offers professional cricket coaching delivered by ECB qualified coaches from The R66T Academy, founded in 2018 by former England captain Joe Root. Students receive training from Level 2 coaches, with masterclass sessions in batting, bowling, and wicketkeeping delivered by Level 3 ECB qualified coaches. The programme focuses on developing not only technical cricket skills but also all-round fitness and wellbeing through practical workshops.

Alongside cricket training, students take part in workshops designed to support communication, confidence, and teamwork. Sessions include sports nutrition and hydration, injury prevention and recovery, mental wellbeing and rest routines, the theory of cricket, understanding coaching instructions and tactics, match reports and commentary skills, reviewing player performances and feedback, and teamwork and leadership. Each student also completes a "My cricket development journey" project presentation. The programme culminates in a mini cricket festival with medals and trophies.

The programme is all-inclusive and covers professional cricket coaching sessions with ECB qualified coaches from The R66T Academy, cricket masterclasses in batting, bowling, and wicketkeeping, all training and workshop materials, a graduation certificate, accommodation in modern university residences, all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), return airport transfers, and all activities, excursions, and entrance fees as per the sample programme. Each player receives their own R66T Academy training kit. Tickets to first class cricket matches are included, as are tours of Lord's and the Kia Oval cricket grounds. For a supplementary cost, the Trinity GESE exam is available subject to demand and minimum student numbers. Please note that there may be slight differences in what is included depending on the specific programme and length of stay.

Students stay in modern university accommodation on the Royal Holloway campus, including the iconic Founder's Building. Rooms are single occupancy with shared bathrooms, providing students with privacy and comfort. Common areas are available for students to relax and socialise with peers from around the world. On-site laundry facilities are available for student use. Kitchens and social spaces are available in every block, furnished to a high standard. The accommodation blocks are located very conveniently for access to the dining hall. All students need to bring their own towels and toiletries. The residential setting allows students to fully immerse themselves in campus life and build lasting friendships in a secure environment.

Full board is provided, with three meals per day – breakfast, lunch, and dinner – included in the programme. Meals are provided on campus and included in the all-inclusive programme. Packaged meals are given when on excursion, ensuring students are well-nourished during full-day trips. The dining facilities offer a variety of options to suit different tastes and dietary needs, with vegetarian options typically available. The meal plan ensures that students are well-nourished and energised for their cricket training, workshops, and excursions throughout the day. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated upon request, subject to prior notification during the booking process.

A full and varied activity programme is included, designed to complement the cricket training and make the most of the campus location and proximity to London. Students participate in on-campus activities including team bonding, social cricket games, British quiz nights, talent shows, and farewell parties. Excursions are a key part of the programme, with full-day trips to London including tours of the world famous Lord's and Kia Oval cricket grounds, visits to Regent's Park, shopping on Oxford Street, and visits to Kensington Museums. A full-day excursion to Brighton by coach is also offered, with a photo tour and entrance to the Royal Pavilion. A full-day trip to Thorpe Park amusement park provides additional opportunities for fun and recreation.

Royal Holloway offers a stunning campus with world-class facilities. The sports hall is used as part of the activity programme, and on-site sports include cricket, basketball, and table tennis. A fully equipped gym is available for Group Leaders for a small fee. The iconic Founder's Building houses a stunning picture gallery and historic chapel. Social spaces are available within the Students Union, including Tommy's Bar. Wi-Fi internet access is available in all rooms. The campus is conveniently located with Egham Station a 20-minute walk away, providing direct trains to London Waterloo (40 minutes) and Richmond (20 minutes). A bus stop opposite the entrance offers direct buses to Windsor (Bus 71) and Staines (Bus 441).
