About the Course

Students follow the ELAC Discovery Programme by age band (Voyagers 11-14, Trailblazers 14-17): an English level test on arrival, communicative language lessons, functional English, 21st-century skills development and environmental awareness topics. 27 academic hours over 2 weeks, max 16 per class, zig-zag model. End-of-course certificate; optional Trinity GESE exam.

What’s Included

The programme fee includes tuition, activity programme, educational excursions, evening entertainment, full board accommodation and travel insurance. Flights and airport transfers are not included (group transfers included; individual transfers at a supplement). Registration fee £50. Season: 1 July - 12 August 2026, arrivals on Wednesdays (1, 15, 29 July), minimum stay 2 weeks.

Accommodation

Residential accommodation in ten large boarding houses around the main campus (single, twin, triple or small group rooms with shared bathrooms, comfy living areas and games rooms), or homestay with local approved hosts checked to British Council welfare standards, with bus passes provided.

Meal Plan

Residential students take all meals in the college dining hall: cooked and continental breakfast daily, varied menus with vegetarian options, and packed lunches on excursions. Homestay students have breakfast and dinner with hosts and hot lunches at the college mid-week. Allergies and diets catered for.

Activities & Excursions

Creative activities (drama, design, arts and crafts), physical activities (swimming in the indoor heated pool, teambuilding, sports, tennis, basketball), workshops (music and rhythm, photography, circus skills) and evening entertainment: discos, talent shows, murder mystery, quizzes and sports tournaments.

Eastbourne College combines a traditional independent school with modern facilities: outdoor sports field, indoor heated swimming pool, sports centre, theatre and dance studio and spacious classrooms, in the heart of the town close to the sea.

Camp Experience

Students study by the sea in a Victorian resort town with a seafront promenade and pier, near the white cliffs of Beachy Head and 20 minutes from Brighton. A two-week programme includes two London excursions and Brighton (Pavilion entry); three-week students also visit Canterbury and Hastings.

ELAC Study Vacations

ELAC Study Vacations is an independent British summer school operator with 35 years of experience, running residential Discovery Programmes for young learners aged 7-17 at seven summer centres across England (Ardingly, Bath, Cirencester, Eastbourne, Horsham and Nottingham). Programmes combine English lessons with 21st-century skills development, creative and physical activities, evening entertainment and educational excursions, welcoming 32 nationalities.
