About

About the Course

The language programme focuses on practical communication skills and is delivered by qualified, friendly teachers. It consists of 20 lessons of 45 minutes per week, taught in the mornings. Classes have approximately 17 students and are formed based on a placement test (covering grammar, writing, listening, and speaking) taken on the first day. The curriculum is communicative, ensuring students can apply what they learn in real-life situations both inside and outside the classroom.

What’s Included

The base price includes: Spanish language course (20 lessons/week), full-board accommodation (3 meals/day) at the residence, a comprehensive activity & excursion programme (both on-site and off-site, including half-day and full-day tours), 24/7 supervision, and an end-of-course certificate. Airport transfers are organized but their inclusion in the base price should be confirmed with the booking team. Optional extras may include specific optional activities or trips. A €30 refundable damage deposit is required upon arrival. Travel and medical insurance are not included but can be purchased separately.

Accommodation

Students stay in the university residence \"Colegio Mayor Marqués de la Ensenada\". Accommodation is in twin rooms with private ensuite bathrooms (2 students per bathroom). Rooms are equipped with desks, chairs, wardrobes, air conditioning, bed linen, and towels. The residence offers excellent facilities including an outdoor swimming pool, multi-sport courts (football, handball, basketball, volleyball, padel), common rooms (with TV, pool, ping-pong), a laundry room, and 24-hour on-site security with CCTV. The centre is wheelchair accessible.

Meal Plan

The programme offers full-board accommodation. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served daily in the campus canteen, with packed lunches provided during weekend excursions. The kitchen caters to most dietary needs (allergies, intolerances, religious, lifestyle), but requirements must be communicated in advance. Meals are varied and typically include continental breakfast, a choice of hot/cold dishes for lunch, and buffet-style dinners with meat/fish, pasta/rice, vegetables, and dessert.

Activities & Excursions

The activity programme is a core part of the experience, designed for cultural immersion and social interaction. It includes half-day city tours (e.g., Museo del Prado, Retiro Park, Templo de Debod), full-day excursions (e.g., to Segovia or Pantano de San Juan), on-site sports (tournaments in football, basketball, volleyball, aqua sports), creative evening events (Spanish Fiesta, Talent Show, Cinema Night, Escape Room, Workshops), and social games (Treasure Hunt, Quiz Night). The focus is on using Spanish in practical contexts while having fun and building a sense of community.

Facilities

On-site facilities are extensive: modern classrooms, an outdoor swimming pool, various sports courts (football, handball, basketball, volleyball, padel), entertainment/games room, auditorium, social lounges, self-service laundry, convenience shop nearby, and free Wi-Fi throughout. For activities, the programme utilizes off-site city attractions (museums, parks, historic sites, markets) and natural locations like the Pantano de San Juan reservoir for outdoor experiences.

Very close to this residence hall is La Plaza del Barro, where you can take regular classes or participate in one-off workshops. You can spend a pleasant time with friends making a ceramic piece from scratch, or if you prefer, painting one that's already fired. There are also ceramics and wine workshops, pottery wheel classes, and more.

My son is absolutely delighted there. If they install air conditioning, it would be perfect! The staff are very friendly and make him feel almost at home. The only downside is the room, which is quite small, and the bed is too.

The college I've encountered has experienced hazing at a level that's worthy of condemnation. It's incredible that in a country like Spain, behavior like what I've seen is tolerated. You should be ashamed of yourself for having people in these conditions, forcing people to eat vomit, drink bottles of alcohol, beatings, and even rape. Shame, anger, and frustration, since these are the behaviors young people will learn in the future: dealing with anger and beatings, thanks for nothing.

Cleanliness 10 points, staff treatment 10 points. Pool 10 points. The lack of air conditioning in the rooms makes it impossible to sleep in the summer. The beds are uncomfortable, but the worst of all is the food and the treatment of the buffet staff. They ration the food, to the point of not giving you a second packet to make yourself a cup of tea. All foods are fried and of poor quality. We ended up eating outside the school many times, because of this situation. There are some very good things, but the bad ones make the average negative.

My daughter is very happy today; everything is clean and there's plenty of food.
