About

About the Course

The course focuses on fast and effective learning through 30 intensive lessons per week from Monday to Friday, held in small, motivating classes averaging 11 students. The curriculum and teaching content are specially tailored for teenagers, with lessons designed to be varied and interactive. The methodology emphasizes a high proportion of speaking and active participation, using diverse learning forms to practice all language skills — listening, reading, speaking, and writing — while also solidifying grammar.

What’s Included

The base fee is an all-inclusive package covering German lessons, all course materials, accommodation in the residence, full board (three meals daily), a daily leisure program, weekly excursions with entrance fees, 24-hour supervision, laundry service, and a certificate. An optional extra is an airport transfer from/to Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) plus an additional fee for unaccompanied minor service (if required). A free pickup service is provided from the Berlin Hauptbahnhof railway station.

Accommodation

Students stay in a centrally located youth hostel, which functions as a full residential campus. The modern, bright rooms are shared by 3-4 students and feature private en-suite bathrooms. Careful rooming ensures students of similar age and language level, but different native languages, share a room to encourage German practice. Boys and girls are housed separately, and 24-hour supervision guarantees a safe and structured boarding-school environment. Bed linen is provided and changed regularly.

Meal Plan

The program operates on a full-board basis, providing three meals per day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Any specific dietary needs are advised to be communicated during the registration process.

Activities & Excursions

The daily leisure program is diverse and compulsory, aiming to combine fun, cultural immersion, and community building. It includes sports like football and swimming, creative workshops (handicrafts), board games, and city tours. Highlights are the weekly half-day (Wednesday) and full-day (Saturday) excursions to major cities and sights like Potsdam, Dresden, or Leipzig, all conducted in German to extend learning beyond the classroom.

Facilities

The course center is a self-contained youth hostel where both classrooms and student rooms are located. On-site facilities include common rooms for relaxation, internet access, a TV room, and games like pool and table football. The program's strength is its prime location, allowing easy access to Berlin's vast urban infrastructure, including museums, government buildings, cafes, and the Spree River for exploration and activities.

Camp Experience

Our Berlin summer camp is built on the Humboldt-Institut's extensive legacy of over 45 years in immersive language education. The program's strength lies in its highly qualified and motivated teachers, who specialize in working with teenagers and follow a specially adapted curriculum. They create a dynamic, interactive classroom atmosphere that prioritizes active speaking and participation. This expertise, combined with our structured residential environment and compulsory social program, fosters a uniquely supportive and stimulating international community, proven to deliver rapid and lasting progress in German.
