About

About the Course

The programme offers 15 hours of English lessons per week, delivered in classes with a maximum size of 20 students to ensure individual attention and active participation. Teaching follows a communicative and interactive methodology that focuses on collaboration through creative projects and review sessions, using English in real-world contexts. Lessons build all core language skills – speaking, listening, reading, and writing – with a strong emphasis on communication, fluency, and confidence. Students are placed into classes according to their English level, which ranges from Elementary to Proficiency, and the programme can be adjusted to accommodate lower levels if needed.

The curriculum is designed in-house and uses engaging, modern topics that students can relate to. The programme's collaboration with National Geographic Learning ensures access to high-quality, engaging course materials that bring the world into the classroom. Each lesson provides students with opportunities to reflect on their learning process and develop critical thinking skills while using English. Additional academic choices include the Trinity GESE exam, as well as customised curriculums such as Employability for the 21st Century (available for students aged 14+ with minimum English level B1) and Academic Skills for Higher Education (available for students with minimum English level B1, minimum of 12 students).

What’s Included

The programme is all-inclusive and covers English language teaching (15 hours per week), course materials, registration fees, a graduation certificate, accommodation in recently refurbished single rooms with private bathrooms, all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), and all activities and excursions as per the programme. Please note that there may be slight differences in what is included depending on the specific programme and length of stay. For a supplementary cost of £140 per student, the Trinity GESE exam is available subject to demand and minimum student numbers. Customised curriculums such as Employability for the 21st Century and Academic Skills for Higher Education are also available subject to demand and minimum student numbers. Wi-Fi access is included in the accommodation.

Accommodation

Students stay in recently refurbished accommodation on the Goldsmiths campus, with single rooms featuring a private bathroom, in flats of 6-8 rooms with a social space for students to relax in. Spacious rooms include a desk and a chair, providing students with a comfortable study area. The majority of the accommodation is located inside the campus, with additional rooms available opposite the main site entrance. Kitchens and social spaces are available in every set of flats. 24-hour security on campus ensures the students' welfare, creating a safe and secure environment. All students need to bring their own towels and toiletries.

Meal Plan

Full board is provided, with three meals per day – breakfast, lunch, and dinner – included in the programme. Meals are provided on campus and included in the all-inclusive programme. A mixture of packed meals and meal cards are provided on excursions, ensuring students are well-nourished during full-day trips. The dining facilities offer a variety of options to suit different tastes and dietary needs, with vegetarian options typically available. The meal plan ensures that students are well-nourished and energised for their lessons, activities, and excursions throughout the day. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated upon request, subject to prior notification during the booking process.

Activities & Excursions

A full and varied activity programme is included, designed to make the most of the campus location and its proximity to central London. Students participate in on-campus activities including discos, karaoke, sports, and social events. Excursions to explore London are a key part of the programme, with visits to iconic sites including the Science Museum, Natural History Museum, Hyde Park, Covent Garden, the National Gallery, Greenwich, the Tower of London, the Tate Modern, Camden, and Regent's Park. A river cruise along the Thames and a Politics & Royalty tour offer unique perspectives on the city. Two full-day excursions to Brighton and Cambridge provide opportunities to explore beyond the capital. Evening social events such as discos, karaoke nights, quiz nights, and talent shows provide additional opportunities for cultural immersion and fun.

Facilities

Goldsmiths offers excellent facilities on its closed campus, meaning all facilities are within easy reach. Sports facilities include netball and tennis courts, with a large field perfect for football. An on-site gym is also available for group leaders who can enrol for a small fee. The closed campus layout ensures that classrooms, dining rooms, accommodation, social areas, sports facilities, and the on-site cinema are all within easy access. The campus is located in New Cross, south east London, close to historic Maritime Greenwich, with two train stations just a 1-minute walk away providing a 5-minute journey to central London. Bus routes connect to Greenwich, St Paul's, Holborn, Marylebone, and London Bridge. 24-hour security on campus ensures student welfare.
