About

About the Course

Junior New Forest Camp is not an academic course. The focus is on experiential learning through outdoor adventure activities, team games, and problem‑solving challenges. The approach encourages children to give things a go, build confidence, and develop new skills in a supportive environment. Activities are age‑appropriate and designed to be fun, with instructors providing safety briefings before each session. Staff‑to‑child ratios are high: instructor‑led activities such as climbing have one staff member to six children, while low‑risk activities such as team games have one staff member to ten children. There are no formal lessons, grammar, or language levels.

What’s Included

The package includes all activities, accommodation in group tents, and all meals and snacks. A deposit secures a place, with the remaining balance invoiced 12 weeks before camp and due 8 weeks before the start date; instalment plans are available on request. Not included: pocket money for souvenirs or extra snacks, personal clothing and equipment from the packing list, travel insurance, flights, and airport transfers (available as an optional add‑on). Bedding is provided for international students; UK campers should bring their own sleeping bag and roll mat, though bedding can be supplied on request.

Accommodation

Campers stay in group tents within a designated campsite area at Foxlease Park, creating a fun and social sleepaway experience. Tents are organised by gender, with boys and girls in separate tents. Experienced staff are nearby overnight, and a staff member is on night duty. Accommodation doors are alarmed overnight, and CCTV operates across the site. The camp provides a safe, supervised, and welcoming environment. Laundry service is available twice per week. Towels are not provided but can be requested.

Meal Plan

Full board is included: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Meals are balanced and tasty – examples include BBQs, pasta, sandwiches, salads, fish and chips, and fajitas. Fruit and snacks are always available. The camp caters for all dietary requirements and allergies – please inform when booking. A tuck shop sells chocolate, crisps, sweets, and drinks for those who bring pocket money.

Activities & Excursions

Activities include outdoor adventures such as climbing, raft building, bushcraft, archery, team games, forest games, problem‑solving activities, and fun physical challenges. Each day is packed with exciting moments designed to build confidence, teach new skills, and encourage teamwork. Evenings offer a range of activities such as sports, team challenges, movie nights, rocket building, and talent shows. The programme provides a mix of creative, relaxed, and competitive activities, all in a safe and supportive environment.

Facilities

On‑site facilities at Foxlease Park include a full‑size outdoor basketball court, an outdoor swimming pool open during summer with trained supervision, indoor communal areas, a dedicated campfire area, an archery range, a climbing wall, high ropes area, a tunnelling area, a nightline course, a crate stack zone, woodland for bushcraft and den building, a lake for raft building and kayaking, and large open fields for team games. WiFi is not accessible on site due to the forest location, but a hotspot is provided for students to contact home during designated phone times.

Camp Experience

Educamps Adventures is a family‑run business with years of experience. All staff are DBS‑checked, trained in first aid and emergency procedures, and led by a Designated Safeguarding Lead. Staff provide 24/7 supervision and pastoral care. The atmosphere is friendly, inclusive, and supportive, with a focus on helping younger children feel confident and enjoy being outdoors. The camp is suitable for first‑time campers; many children attend alone and make friends quickly. The programme is designed to build life skills such as teamwork, resilience, problem‑solving, and leadership.

All activities are age-appropriate and led by qualified instructors or experienced camp counsellors. Staff-to-child ratios are high, with one staff member to six children for instructor-led activities and one to ten for low-risk activities. Safety briefings are given before each session. The daily schedule runs from 07:00 to 22:00, with breakfast, four activity sessions, lunch, dinner, and an evening activity. Evenings include sports, team challenges, movie nights, rocket building, talent shows, and other creative or competitive events. No textbooks or formal materials are used; learning happens through participation, teamwork, and trying new things in a supportive outdoor setting.
