About

About the Course

The course follows a supportive, communicative approach with mixed‑nationality classes of just 12–13 students on average (maximum 16), running Monday to Saturday mornings. An online placement test ensures correct level placement from beginner to advanced. The focus is balanced across speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary, with teachers providing regular feedback and an academic report and certificate at the end of the stay.

What’s Included

The base price includes 15 hours of English tuition per week, on‑campus residential accommodation, all meals (three per day plus a late snack), 19 sessions of language projects or activities weekly, two full‑day excursions per week, Sunday transfers to and from Heathrow or Stansted, registration, 24‑hour emergency support, and an end‑of‑course report with certificate. Vegetarian and non‑pork options are always included at no extra cost, and most special dietary requirements can be met if requested in advance.

Accommodation

Students stay in comfortable, secure on‑campus buildings at King's Ely, with separate residences for boys and girls. Rooms are shared (twins, rooms for up to 6, or small dorms of up to 10 beds), with shared bathrooms and toilets. Bed linen is changed once per week, and a free laundry service is provided by college staff. Studio staff live on‑campus, offering 24‑hour supervision with a staff‑to‑student ratio of approximately 1:7.

Meal Plan

Full board (three meals per day) is served in the magnificent medieval beamed dining hall, with a wide choice of hot and cold food. A vegetarian and a non‑pork option are always available, and most special dietary requirements can be accommodated if requested in advance. Packed lunches are provided on excursion days, plus a late snack (soft drinks, cookies, cake) at bedtime. The food is nutritious, balanced, and appetising, with a full English cooked breakfast daily and hot dishes plus a salad bar at lunch and supper.

Activities & Excursions

The programme includes 19 sessions of language projects or activities per week, with evening activities offered seven days a week. Choices cover a wide variety of sports, arts and crafts, and entertainment such as discos, talent shows, and movie nights. Two full-day excursions run weekly (Wednesday and Sunday) to explore parts of England. The goal is to balance language practice, creativity, physical activity, and cultural discovery in a safe, supervised setting.

Facilities

The King's Ely campus combines medieval architecture with modern facilities in the town centre. It features 15 classrooms, halls for plays and social gatherings, computers with free internet access, a sports hall and gymnasium, a heated outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, outdoor playing fields, an arts and crafts room, student common rooms, and a dining room. Beyond the campus, the city of Ely offers its magnificent cathedral, traditional shops, and a market square within easy walking distance.

Camp Experience

With nearly two decades of running Sir Edward at King's Ely since 2008, Studio Cambridge provides a trusted, high‑quality educational experience for younger learners. Teachers are experienced in teaching children, and the high staff‑to‑student ratio (approx. 1:7), live‑in welfare officers, 24‑hour supervision, and first‑aid trained staff ensure exceptional care and safety. The atmosphere is warm, structured, and international – students from many nationalities learn together in small classes, build confidence through a gentle yet engaging programme, and leave with happy memories, new friends, and an official academic report and certificate.

Lessons follow a student-centred approach where experienced teachers use collaborative projects, role plays, and real‑life speaking tasks to reinforce grammar and vocabulary. Classes are kept small to ensure personal attention, and materials include age‑appropriate textbooks plus authentic resources like short articles and audio clips. The emphasis is on practical communication: you will practise speaking and listening daily, while also developing reading, writing, and core grammar in meaningful contexts. Each lesson actively involves you through pair work, group discussions, and guided practice. Teachers monitor your progress continuously and provide regular feedback, so you always know what to improve. The atmosphere is friendly and low‑pressure, encouraging you to take risks with new language without fear of making mistakes.

A balanced English course that builds all four language skills through interactive, project‑based learning in a supportive camp environment.
