About the Course

Stafford House Canterbury offers summer courses for international juniors: the Classic Course (15 hours of English per week, ages 11-18), Intensive English (23 hours per week, ages 14-17), plus two-week Careers in Medicine and three-week Model United Nations academic programmes (ages 14-17). All students take a placement test and receive an end-of-course certificate; maximum class size is 18.

What’s Included

The weekly price includes English tuition, full-board accommodation, 1 full-day excursion and 1 half-day excursion per week, 2 local visits per week, 7 evening activities per week, and hot lunch and dinner in the school canteen on weekdays. One free group leader place per 15 students. For individually booked students, shared transfers to and from London airports are included.

Accommodation

Students stay in full-board residential accommodation with rooms of 1-4 beds, all with private bathrooms, or in carefully selected homestay accommodation in shared rooms. There are laundry facilities in the residences. The maximum stay in homestay for students aged under 16 is 27 nights.

Meal Plan

Full board: students have a hot lunch and hot dinner in the school canteen Monday to Friday. Host families provide weekend meals for homestay students.

Activities & Excursions

Outside class, students enjoy a full activity and excursion programme: 7 evening activities per week (sports, arts and crafts, drama, games, quizzes, talent shows and discos), 2 local visits per week, and weekly excursions - one full day and one half day - to destinations such as London, which is one hour away by train.

Facilities

The Canterbury centre has a television lounge, free Wi-Fi throughout, a library, a self-study room, drink-making facilities and an outside courtyard.

Camp Experience

Canterbury is a historic university city, close to the beaches of the south coast and within easy reach of London (1 hour by train, 1.5 hours from Heathrow, 2 hours to Paris by Eurostar). Fun to explore and easy to walk around, it is a safe and comfortable place for young students, with dedicated student welfare staff at the centre.
